We're Here for You
Decisions about cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and life support are some of the most difficult decisions you will ever have to face. We hope you will find the following handouts helpful as you discuss your wishes with your family and health care providers and write them down.

Many people are here to help you. If you or your family have questions or concerns about CPR and other treatments, we want to help you get your questions answered.

For more information please contact the Oakwood Clinical Ethics Center at 313.436.2267.

Arts for the spirit

Oakwood Arts for the Spirit Program (AFTS) provides an environment that promotes healing and comfort to patients, visitors and staff through various art forms. Providing a restorative atmosphere that renews the human spirit extends Oakwood's commitment to excellence in delivering comprehensive healthcare.

Community partnerships are integral to the success of the Oakwood AFTS program. We are proud to work with local, regional and national partners to support the healing power of the arts at Oakwood Healthcare System. Our partners include the Dearborn Community Arts Council, the Downriver Council for the Arts, The Henry Ford, Furnace Design Studio and Glass Academy, River's Edge Gallery, Arts & Scraps, the National Arts Program, Springfed Arts/Metro Detroit Writers, Wayne State University, Eastern Michigan University, Wayne County Community College Northwest Campus, and the Dearborn and Trenton Public Schools.

Diversity

At Oakwood, we strive to create an environment where individual differences maximize our collective capabilities as a team and an environment of care that welcomes diversity, respects and values all persons.

This environment is enhanced by our ability to respond respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures in a manner that recognizes, affirms and values individual differences and similarities while preserving the dignity of every person.

Oakwood serves growing multi-cultural and diverse communities with growing populations of the elderly, racial and ethnic minorities. Culturally competent healthcare systems that provide culturally sensitive and language appropriate services have the potential to reduce disparities in health care, improve health outcomes and increase consumer satisfaction.
